Description

This Homemade Protein Ice Cream is the perfect solution for a nutritious snack or a guilt-free dessert that everyone will love. It's incredibly easy to make with few ingredients, provides a protein boost for post-workout recovery, and allows for full control over ingredients, ensuring no hidden additives or sugars. Refreshing and versatile, it's a delicious secret to change your summers and snacks!

Ingredients

3 large units ripe bananas, sliced and froze
2 scoops Whey Protein (vanilla or chocolate flavor)
0.5 cup Milk (plant-based or cow’s)
1 tbsp 100% Cocoa powder (optional, for chocolate flavor)
to taste Natural sweetener (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the bananas: Ensure your bananas are very ripe before freezing. Peel them, slice them into rounds, and freeze for at least 4 hours. This guarantees the creaminess of the Homemade Protein Ice Cream
  2. Combine the ingredients: In a blender or food processor, add the frozen banana slices. Then, add the whey protein, milk, and cocoa powder (if using)
  3. Blend until creamy: Start blending at low speed, using the pulse function. Push the ingredients down with a spatula as needed. The mixture will look dry and crumbly at first. Be patient; it will transform into a thick cream
  4. Adjust consistency: If the mixture is too thick, add a little more milk, one tablespoon at a time. If you prefer a sweeter Homemade Protein Ice Cream, add natural sweetener to taste
  5. Serve immediately: For the best experience, serve your Homemade Protein Ice Cream as soon as you finish blending. It will have a soft-serve consistency
  6. For a firmer consistency (optional): If you prefer a harder Homemade Protein Ice Cream, transfer the mixture to an airtight container. Freeze for 30 minutes to 1 hour before serving. Remember, the longer it stays in the freezer, the harder it will become

Notes

Use very ripe bananas before freezing for a more intense natural flavor and sweetness.

Freeze bananas in small pieces to make blending easier for your appliance.

Avoid adding too much liquid at once; the goal is a thick paste, not a shake.

A good food processor or high-powered blender will efficiently crush the frozen bananas.

For an airier ice cream, use a stand mixer to beat the mixture for one or two minutes after blending, incorporating air for a lighter texture.

This Protein Ice Cream is best consumed fresh for optimal creaminess.

If storing leftovers, use an airtight container in the freezer for up to one week to prevent ice crystals.

To re-soften stored ice cream, remove from the freezer 10-15 minutes before serving or quickly re-process in the blender with a tiny bit of milk.
