Description

This Banana and Peanut Butter Puree is more than just a snack; it's a warm hug, a moment of comfort that nourishes the body and soul. Simple, tasty, and incredibly versatile, it has become a family favorite, saving many hurried snacks and breakfasts. It's easy to make, requires few ingredients, and is highly nutritious, providing good energy for both children and adults. You control all the ingredients, avoiding unnecessary additives and refined sugars. Enjoy it for breakfast, as an afternoon snack, or even as a healthy, comforting dessert. The natural sweetness of banana combined with the creaminess of peanut butter is simply irresistible.

Ingredients

3 medium units Ripe bananas (nanica or prata)
2 heaping tablespoons Whole peanut butter
2 to 3 tablespoons Milk (whole, plant-based or water)
1/2 teaspoon Cinnamon powder (optional)
To taste Honey or natural sweetener (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Bananas: First, peel the ripe bananas. Then, cut them into slices or smaller pieces. This makes mashing much easier and ensures a more homogeneous texture
  2. Mash: Place the banana pieces in a deep plate or bowl. With a fork, mash the bananas well until you get a homogeneous and smooth puree. You can leave some small pieces for a more interesting texture, or mash them completely
  3. Add Peanut Butter: Now, incorporate the two tablespoons of whole peanut butter into the banana puree. Mix vigorously with the fork until the two ingredients are perfectly combined and the cream begins to form
  4. Adjust Consistency: Gradually add the milk (or water), one tablespoon at a time. Mix well after each addition. Continue adding and mixing until you reach the desired consistency. Some prefer it firmer, others creamier
  5. Season (Optional): If desired, add cinnamon powder and honey or natural sweetener to taste. Mix again to incorporate the seasonings
  6. Serve: Serve immediately and enjoy your fresh Banana and Peanut Butter Puree. It's delicious hot or at room temperature!

Notes

Ripe Bananas are Essential: Use very ripe bananas (with dark spots on the peel) as they are naturally sweeter and easier to mash, ensuring a perfect creamy texture and natural sweetness.

Lightly Warm (Optional): For a warm and comforting puree, mash the bananas and peanut butter, then microwave for 30 to 60 seconds or heat in a small pan over low heat, stirring constantly until warm.

Mix Thoroughly: Ensure the peanut butter is fully incorporated into the banana puree. A homogeneous mixture guarantees every spoonful is rich in flavor and creaminess.

Customize Texture: For a super smooth puree without chunks, use an immersion blender or regular blender. For a texture with small banana pieces, a fork is ideal.

Taste and Adjust: Always taste before serving. Add more cinnamon, honey, or a pinch of salt if you feel something is missing. A pinch of salt can surprisingly enhance the flavors.

Storage & Reheating: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Bananas may oxidize and darken, but this does not affect flavor or nutritional quality. To reheat, microwave for 30-60 seconds or warm in a small pan over low heat, stirring. If too thick, add a little milk or water to restore consistency.
